India’s richest man Mukesh Ambani recently celebrated his 60th birthday. Having taken their father Dhirubhai’s business venture to great heights, brother Mukesh and Anil proved to be capable businessmen.
While Dhirubhai’s two sons have always been in the spotlight, his daughters have often maintained a low profile. For those of you who’re unaware, Mukesh Ambani has two sisters; Nina Kothari and Deepti Salgaonkar.
Way back in the year 1978, Dhirubhai’s family resided in Mumbai’s sole sky scraper building, Usha Kiran. The Salgaokar family resided on the 14th floor, while the Ambani’s lived on the 22nd. Salgaokar’s and the Ambani’s were the most popular businessmen of India at the time and thus, a bond of friendship struck between the two families.
Considering the two families often visited one another, Deepti crossed paths with Salgaonkar’s son, Duttaraj. Raj considered Deepti once of the most beautiful and talented woman he had ever met and thus it was an instant attraction for the romantic. The duo eventually began dating and continued a relationship for over 5 years, before tying the knot in 1983.
Deepti decided to become a homemaker post marriage and the family moved to Goa the next year. Here’s a closer look at the lesser-known Ambani’s love story…

Guess Deepti’s decision to turn into a homemaker was the right choice as Raj is a huge fan of his wife’s culinary skills.
